Continuing Professional Development

CapeUK offers a wide range of training programmes and ideas for schools, LEAs and creative professionals. We seek to design training programmes which are participatory, giving people the opportunity to explore and experience creative processes for themselves. We often work with groups, which draw from across different worlds, bring together teachers and creative professionals in joint exploration. We do not feel that it is possible to deliver creativity - it needs to be developed through a process.

Our preferred model for CPD combines initial exploration of ideas and principles, practical follow up in real contexts, regular review with peers and seminars to bring together the learning.

Potential Programmes

Below is a list of programmes that are potential models - we would expect to tailor these in response to particular groups and situations.

Leadership for creativity - helping those who have a leadership role to think through how they can grow a creative community or school. This could include a creativity audit, coaching, mentoring and workshops.

Supporting project co-ordinators, teachers and creative practitioners in a school setting

Developing and planning partnership projects - looking at the ‘whys' and ‘hows' of partnership working and helping schools and creative professionals come together to plan ands fund a project, including fundraising, grant applications and budgeting.

Training for assessors of the Young People's Arts Award - in Yorkshire and the Humber CapeUK is running this training on behalf of the Arts Council.

CapeUK is very flexible in both its approach and provision. We work with individuals, departments, schools, networks, clusters and LEAs locally and nationally. We work with creative partners, Further and Higher Education and those in community education. We deliver CapeUK development programmes and packages and work with others to help them develop their own. We are very open to adapting our programmes or designing new ones, to suit your needs and circumstances.
