Of This Planet
The Of This Planet (OTP) project is working in partnership with seven schools across Greater Manchester to create and develop innovative practice around race and education.
Funded by the Home Office, it provides a forum to generate debate within and across schools on issues of race, representation and education using creative forms to establish common ground.
OTP works with teachers, creative practitioners and pupils across Key Stages 2 - 4 to develop a range of resources which could be integrated practically into the national curriculum.
Early feedback states that ‘the work created a climate in which children felt secure to discuss issues'.
An additional aspect has been the development of a dedicated website www.ofthisplanet.org.uk for those involved to share ideas and work collaboratively. Please click on the link below to access this site.
During the autumn of 2005 we will be working closely with creative practitioners and teachers to draw together the learning from the initiative to produce a toolkit which will enable other schools to draw on the experience gained from the action research.
