Film FX

Film FX is a project part-financed by the European Social Fund.  It will work with targeted individuals who are least likely to participate in learning, offering them a new context for re-engagement into education and the benefits of lifelong learning.

The Film FX project targets young people aged 13 - 16 years who have or are at risk of, opting out of compulsory education.

Working with mobile phones and associated ICT the young people will produce short films, with guidance from teachers and a creative practitioner, to be shown publicly at the Leeds Children and Young People Film Festival in April 2007.

The second stage harnesses the creative capabilities developed by the young people in the first part of the programme and transfers these to social, behavioural and education contexts.

The final part of the project will be to impart knowledge, skill and experience via a CPD programme to school staff in order that they can gain confidence to develop strategies for their work with future groups of similarly disadvantaged young people.
