CARA (Creativity Action Research Awards)
The CARA (Creativity Action Research Awards), which has been managed by CapeUK for Creative Partnerships, brings together classroom teachers and creative practitioners to investigate, through creativity based projects, the effect creativity has on pupil learning and motivation. This groundbreaking initiative involved almost 150 schools from all over the country and has given teachers the opportunity to work with creative professionals to develop their pupils' creativity. Each partnership was awarded £4,500 to fund their research in addition to being offered the support of a separately funded mentor with expertise in creativity, education and research.
CARA programmes worked in all areas of the curriculum, harnessing the skills of a wide range of creative practitioners, including architects, philosophers, scientists and broadcasters.
A booklet - Building Creative Futures - has now been produced which presents some of the findings from the project. The booklet was launched at an event on 7th December 2005 at the Globe Theatre in London.
