The Arts and Community Radio

This CapeUK research report captures some of the fascinating and experimental work which is possible within the context of community radio – a vibrant and rapidly developing field.

CapeUK was commissioned in 2006 to research the role the arts was playing in community radio. We carried out the fieldwork in 2006-7 and completed the report in 2007. This is now being published by the Community Media Association.

The report profiles how different art forms are represented in community radio – music, drama, written work, festivals - and also profiles innovative partnerships between radio stations and community organizations including collaborative work with schools, community groups and arts organizations.
