Creative Spaces

CapeUK was commissioned by Renaissance North West to explore the ways in which gallery and museum spaces foster learning for Key Stage 2 visitors. The resultant programme involved children working as co-researchers to explore  site specific research questions at four North West cultural venues - the Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester; Manchester Art Gallery;  the Harris Museum and Art Gallery and Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery.

The report affirms the value of undertaking research with children, as opposed to on children.  The findings will be of interest to those involved in the design of museum and gallery spaces and in formal and informal learning provision for school aged children.
