Cape's Knowledge Bank

CapeUK's work over the last 8 years has focussed on exploring creativity and learning - in both formal and informal education settings - and disseminating its findings.

This has been achieved through a broad range of activities, from local grass-roots projects, local, regional and national CPD programmes, consultancy, and training.

These projects will give and insight into the scope and the innovative nature of CapeUK's work in the recent past.

Advanced Skills Teachers - Creative

From April 2004 - March 2005, AST Creative was delivered as a continuing professional development programme for 60 Advanced Skills Teachers from around England.
 

Creative Space

In March 2003 teachers from ten schools in Manchester and Leeds, together with artists, curators, scientists and research students, formed "creative space teams" in order to investigate scientific concepts through the exploration of space.
 

Increasing learning opportunities for disaffected 14-17 year olds

Education Leeds led this Learning & Skills Council West Yorkshire co-financed partnership project, the aim of which was to increase the quality and availability of vocational and work-related learning opportunities for disaffected/disadvantaged 14-17 year old pupils within Leeds.
 

Out of School Hours Learning

The Out of School Hours programme took place in 12 Leeds and Manchester schools. The schools used the programme to combat dissatisfaction, truancy and underachievement, and to retain gifted and talented pupils.
 

Radiowaves

CapeUK - in partnership with digital innovation company Synergy.TV and broadcasting specialists Sound-Works - brought online radio into 10 Leeds schools through the Radiowaves project by creating a network of stations to help engage pupils in the learning process
 

Community cohesion

The aim of the Young Roots, Your Roots project was to develop a framework based on CapeUK principles to enable the development of creative programmes with and for young people, which focus on cultural identity and the understanding and promotion of community cohesion.
