CapeUK was commissioned by the Leeds Find Your Talent (FYT) pathfinder to consult the cultural, education and community sectors in Leeds and produce:

• A tool for comparing existing quality assurance frameworks for use by individuals and organisations providing arts and cultural opportunities for young people.

• A ‘code of conduct’ for creative practitioners working with young people. Over the course of the consultation, this became a ‘code of practice’ for all those involved in providing cultural opportunities for young people. Code of practice is the term used in this report, although the title finally given to the tool was ‘Best Practice Principles’.

• A scoping of existing quality assurance training and recommendations for a professional development programme to be delivered in the third year of the Leeds FYT programme

Quality assuring arts and cultural opportunities for young people in Leeds: The Course of a Consultation
This document summarises the consultation process itself and records its findings. It describes the thinking and experience behind our Best Practice Principles and the accompanying Audit & Proposal. It provides useful background to those documents and should be of interest to anyone working in the arts with children and young people, in Leeds or elsewhere.

Quality Assurance Professional Development – Audit and Proposal
An audit of professional development needs and a recommendation for a programme that would address these was commissioned by the Leeds Find Your Talent pathfinder as part of a wider consultation with the education, culture and community sectors about quality assurance.  The consultation was conducted through an electronic survey and live events; further information is provided in the accompanying document ‘Quality assuring arts and cultural opportunities for young people in Leeds: the course of a consultation.’

Quality cultural activities for children and young people: A guide to quality assurance models – Getting in the Frame
This document provides an independent guide to the main quality marks and frameworks currently in use for accreditation of cultural provision for children and young people in Leeds. It has been researched by CapeUK on behalf of the Find Your Talent programme with a focus on participatory and educational youth arts work delivered locally. However, much of what is collected here is also relevant nationally and appropriate to other settings.
