CapeUK are now working with 12 Regularly Funded Organisations (RFOs) and 10 young people (15-25) from Yorkshire, Humber and NE Lincolnshire as part in a new programme ‘Critical Friends’
The organisations involved are; Pilot Theatre, Red Ladder, Artlandish, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Blahs, Sheffield Theatres, Inscribe, Opera North, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Pied Piper.
The ‘Critical Friends’ programme is a partnership between Arts Council Yorkshire and CapeUK and aims to enable a selected group of young people to act as critical friends to selected RFOs.
CapeUK have now trained the successful young people in communication techniques, presentation skills, mentoring, feedback, reviewing and reflecting – and the young people will gain invaluable experience working alongside some of the region’s best arts and cultural organisations.
The young people have set up a group called ‘consult&see’ – they will be creating a closed facebook group soon.
This consultancy opportunity will allow RFOs to gain an insight from a young person’s perspective, allowing the organisations to assess and develop their provision of work for young people.
