From 28th February to 4th March 2011, CapeUK hosted an exciting week-long study visit for educational specialists from across Europe to explore the future of creativity and culture.

Participants came from a range of backgrounds and included head teachers, curriculum advisors, teachers, local authorities and university lecturers, all with a specific interest in culture and creativity within education.  Whilst some came with the intention primarily to learn and experience good practice, others shared and offered their own expertise on creativity in education. The week’s programme included presentations by the participants about their own countries, seminars about curriculum developments in the UK and practical creative workshops. Schools visited included: Brigshaw High School, Castleford; Firth Park Community College, Sheffield; The Kingstone School, Barnsley; Our Lady of Victories Catholic School, Keighley; Parkside School, Bradford; and Royds Hall High School, Huddersfield.

Pat Cochrane, Chief Executive of CapeUK says: “This visit was a great opportunity for professionals working with young people in Leeds and beyond to exchange ideas and experiences with their European counterparts; creating an exciting opportunity to network, form partnerships and share in innovation and good practice.  As CapeUK we were delighted to host this European study visit as we continue to highlight the importance of arts and creativity in education.”
